LA BESTEMMIATRICE
What better term to comment on the present state of society, what more everyday term that better defines the everyday than the theatrical term par excellence: "tragedy"? "drama" is too bland for today's mess and "comedy" just points to a shameful consolation, whereas "tragedy" has the right colour: it is tainted with red and black. It is into the devastation of tragedy that our work has plunged its hands this time.
A mother who kills her own child faces us with an inexplicable act of violence and leaves us devasted because we cannot conceive of an act in which the impossible seems to become possible, throwing all our logical and moral structures into crisis, forcing us to redefine the ground rules for all our social relationships. She sounds a warning bell. She removes the rug from under our feet.
With this tragedy as our starting point, we want to explore the instrument which we find the most consonant - the theatre - in order to conduct an enquiry into the supermoral value, into the alarming power of the act of infanticide.
In ‘La Bestemmiatrice’ (the blasphemous woman) we will focus our energies on pointing up key moments in the narrative.
This performance, that will have its formal conclusion, will be propedeutic to the following part ‘Madre e Assassina’ (Mother and Murderer) that will be presented in Modena at Teatro delle Passioni on February 2004.

The whole project ‘Murderous Mothers’ has the purpose to realise the performance ‘Madre e Assassina’ (Mother and Murderer) that will be presented in Modena at Teatro delle Passioni on February 2004.
The productive work for this project provides:
Workshops in order to find new collaborators and to verify hypothesis of staging and acting, with different actors.
And steps of public presentation that will focalise different passages of studying and enquiring.

+ June 7th to 9th - France, Toulouse-Theatre Garonne : third workshop “l’acteur face à la camera”
